We had another great Madura Mayhem for 2002. We all thought it would be hard to top the first one, but we did. Twenty two Maduras in one photo! We had one more show up by the end of the day so a total of 23 Maduras showed in Williamsburg, Kentucky for the 2002 Madura Mayhem. Each and everyone of them as great as the next. We did have a few mishaps that led to the destruction of three turn signals and one mirror, but no other damage and no one was hurt in the different incidents.
Below are two photos, the first being of twenty two Maduras lined up in the field next to the hotel. The second of Bob Wright, winner of the best original stock for the second year in a row and from Oklahoma, and Jon Bolinger, winner of the best custom Madura and from Indianna. That blue on Jon's is really sharp. He also chromed a lot of the aluminum parts. When looking at Bob's you could almost swear he just picked it up from the dealer this morning. Linda's GV700, from Winnipeg, Canada was a very close second in the original stock, it was a very tuff decision between the two. The even harder choice was for second place on the customs. Coy from Texarkana took second with his yellow Madura and Ray from Winnipeg Canada gave him a good running for his money with a Madura that has so much chrome and gold on it the glare was always a battle just to see it.
Some people arrived as soon as Wed. but most arrived Thursday night or Friday night. Saturday morning we lined them up for our show and ride to the Cumberland Tunnel via Rt 92. Some beautiful winding roads of Kentucky. We had close to 30 bikes in the procession, at points all you could see far behind you and far ahead was Maduras horizon to horizon. A scene that you can only dream of, until now.
We had attendee's from New York, West Virginia, Indiana, Georgia, Texas, Oklahoma, Michigan, Illinois and Manitoba. Oh yeah of course we had five from Kentucky herself. We saw all of the attendee's from 2001 Mayhem but one who had to stay home in Iowa due to recent surgery. I think he stayed home because he knew he could not win the custom two years in a row.
The congrats go out to:
Jon Bollinger for the best custom Madura. That blue is really something(even with a gray motor, but I won't tell anyone.)
RLWright for being there first of all and on top of that for having the best original stock, AGAIN! That's two years now. I think it belongs in a museum. lol
Chartline for taking second on the custom. I think you need a little bit more chrome( I told you we should of taken it from Ravens while he was sleeping) It was a close call because Raven has almost out done himself on his bike. You have to see it to really appreciate it.
Tweety! She took second place for Original stock for her 700. I think we should have her lead the ride next year.
I just want to thank everyone. With out all of you this would not of been the same. Even Bubba and Little Bubba(even though he rides a Magna). The stories that were told around our electric campfire and the stories that will be told of what went on around the electric campfire is what puts the icing on the cake for this group. I would of thought it would of been a little more subdued being in a dry county of Kentucky, fat chance. Add alcohol and gently stir, WOW!
Well, now on to the planning for The 2003 Madura Mayhem.
