(5-15-04) I have a couple of 1985 1200 Maduras. It took me 20 hours to mount the vetter fairing. I have been a Suzuki mechanic 1978-1980. I have had 5 new GS750-1100s. The Madura is the most fun. It's a parking lot wreck. Must watch your self. It well pass anything but a gas station. I have a 1983 GS1100L - [the Madura is] faster, shifts better, goes a 120miles on 3 gallons of gas. I ride the Madura, it sounds better, looks better, I idle around... might live longer riding the Madura. There are very few of these bikes left. The two I have are only 130 apart on the serial number. I bought one in Northern Illinios and the other in Austin Texas. When you ride your bike know that there are only few left and you have one! You want to watch low speed throttle input. You must be straight up and down to open it up. A little lean and you will be growing some new skin and looking for new parts. My brother jumped on my new Madura before I had it paid, for kind of a test ride. Well I had to pay for it because he scratched it. He healed faster than the bike. Know that you are on one of the most powerful machines ever made. Enjoy!

(7-1-04) I've been riding since I was 12 years old and back in the fall of 2002 I started looking at bikes again. I had been in the Air Force (did 30 years and retired 1 July 2001--3rd anniversary today) and overseas quite a bit since Nov 1980 (12 1/2 years total), so, I had not been riding much in recent years. I mentioned to one of my co-workers I was looking at bikes. He told me he had a friend that had a Madura and might be willing to sell it. I had not heard of nor seen a Madura before that time (being overseas). I did a search on the Internet and came across the forum, where there were plenty of pictures and information about the bike. I contacted the Maddy owner and asked if I could see the bike. He said he needed to put the carbs back on, put in a new battery, replace the fork seals, clean it up some, and would call when I could come see the bike. Well, two days later I got a call. I drove to his house and it was love at first sight (even moreso after the first ride). The bike had 18,939 miles on it. It started right up and he let me take it for a test spin. Wowwwww! I told him I would be in touch. On the way home I told my wife I wanted to make him an offer. She agreed. I called two days later, made the offer, and he accepted but was still waiting on the fork seals. I picked up my Madura on Friday, 13 Sept 2002. The number "13" has always been one of my lucky numbers and it certainly was in the case of getting my Maddy. As of today (1 July 2004) I have put exactly 8,000 miles on my bike since my test ride (now 26,939). The picture is from the 2004 Madura Mayhem where the bike was judged by the attendees to be the second best still in original condition. GV's bike received First Place and I even voted for his rather than my own. I rode my bike from Shiloh, IL, (20 miles east of St Louis, MO) to the Mayhem (412 miles one way). I put 972 miles on the Maddy in just over 54 hours over the Mayhem weekend. Had a blast doing so too. It was great to see so many Maduras together and meeting everyone was the icing on the cake!!!

(7-3-04) I was looking for an inexpensive bike to fix up and ran across this on the internet. Needless to say the pictures looked alot better than it did in real life but since I'd made the commitment, I brought it home. After that I decided to pull it into my shop and begin tearing it down for paint and repairing some items. First I had to replace a rusted exhaust collector, tires, and mirrors. Then my wife and I spend hours cleaning, polishing and removing parts to be painted. After stripping 8 coats of paint (can u believe that???) I got down to the metal which needed some TLC. It now has House of Kolor's Cinnamon Pearl, Root Beer Kandy and Aztec Gold. (see how the side covers have been modified? thought the aluminum pieces looked dated). Also added the saddlebags, front bag, and windshield. By the way, I only have about $2200 in it the way it sits-gotta love that!

(7-6-04) Hello, I am new to your ranks but you have made me feel like I have been here all along. It is because of you that I bought this incredible machine on (06-15-04). She has 35K on her and runs like the wind. I have already started piecing it back to her original glory. You all have experienced her shortcomings but embraced her for what she is. A grand babe that will respond with the twist of the throttle. Thanks for pushing me in the right direction. And thanks for all your help.

(7-30-04) My wife snapped this picture of me riding my Maddy 700 down our street shortly after I finally got her running. I bought her for far too much for her condition at the time, and since then have done a ton of mechanical improvements. There are still some cosmetics to be adjusted, but I am very happy with my first ever bike.

(7-19-04) Here is my GV1200. Everything on this bike I bought as parts from US and Canada. The frame and engine without cylinderheads came from BC Canada and the rest
from all US and Canada.
