(5-21-05) Greetings all. I was an everyday rider while serving in the US Navy in the 80's Rain or Shine! (Honda Nighthawk 450) Went a loooooong time without a bike. Saw ad for my new Madura 1200 in a local want-ad publication. Took her for a spin... WOW! This bike just seemed to fit! Great balance, Great handling, Great power!!! Got her in April '04

First project was stripping the old varnish off of the aluminum. The molded, handlebar mount shield that came with the bike was the first thing to go. I wanted a shield but the turbulence behind this thing was worse that 60 mile an hour breeze!

I have since put a Memphis Fats shield on her. (Engineering feat!) and I love it. Have also added highway pegs.

The real seller of this bike is twofold. One, the power... even with my wife on, going uphill in O.D. (6'th)... she still has plenty of power. Two, It is not uncommon for people to guess the wrong year of the bike! Few believe it is from 1986!

Kudos to the previous owner who had the paint job done and took good care of her.

Special thanks to the webmaster for a great website dedicated to a machine that would be lost without all the great support from loyal owners and advice!

(6-5-05) I bought my '85 Madura May 2005. My last bike was an 82 Suzuki GS1100L, which I sold about three years ago and this spring I had to get back in the saddle. I found an ad for an '85 Suzuki Madura V1200 and I assumed this was a 1200cc bike with a V twin like an Intruder since I never saw a Madura before. When I searched the web for info, the first hit was this web page with all the info and pictures one could ask for. A collectors bike hmmmm? Next day I went to see the bike, bought it and rode it home. Stored in a barn for a number of years, it had 22,000 km on it and wasn't abused but was neglected. Lots of cleaning and basic maintenance (oil, filters, plugs etc) but the ride is thrilling every time and the power and response is indescribable.

(6-5-05) I bought my Madura in 1987 from a guy who wanted me to buy it but at the time I could not afford it. He was going thru a divorce so one day he said just come get the bike and keep it at your house. On the way home from his house I fell in love with the way this bike rode and had to have it. At the time the bike had 1625 miles on it today it has 14555 and I still love this bike, everthing but the gas mileage and have to refuel it every 100 miles. Thanks for putting my bike on here.

(6-13-05) I saw a 700 in a shop a month back and it was love at first drool. I knew I just had to have one. Being a research nut, I tripped over this site in about 17 nanoseconds and soaked up everything there was on it. I just couldn't get over how stuck you guys are on Maduras.

So, without even having ridden one, I bought this 1200 on eBay from Illinois, shipped her up through Montana and had her over 100 MPH by midnight of my arrival with my old Yammy 650 plate on 'er. What a dream machine! Thanks all you guys for the great info. If this site wasn't here I might not have bought the world's coolest bike. It had 17,676 miles on her when I got it and when the out of province inspection is done tomorrow it'll be legal. Then there's gonna be a whole lot more. She's quick as a cat and VERY nimble and I just love the purr she puts out. My only complaint is that at 65 MPH she hardly flexes her muscles. But when you crack it, there seems to be no end to the power.

I've already got my eye on a 700 for my sister. A nice midnight blue one with hardly a nick on it. I'm sold!! I won't make Mayhem this year, but there's always next. How about out west in the REAL mountains?

Cheers gang.

Mad y'ar eh?

(7-6-05) These pictures were taken the summer of 2004. I had heard of a Madura before but didn't really remember what it looked like or what made it special. I rode an FJ1200 for a few years then had a few years off. I wanted a sport bike type engine in a cruiser style package... done! I bought the 700 with only 16,000 km on it. I looked great are ran perfectly. My wife and I loved it so much I had to buy the matching 1200 so we could ride together. The GV1200GLF is a Special Edition Canadian model with gold rim centers and a body coloured front fender. It looks great and at 55,000 km it’s still running very strong. Lots of fun to drive and gives the guys I know with the mid-size sport bikes something to worry about. I took the backrest extension off after the picture was taken. Like most people I read about on the site, they really love the bikes. All they really need are bigger gas tanks and Velcro on the grips so you don’t fly off!

Enjoy the ride!

(7-13-05) I bought my bike in February 2005. The bike had failed the electric system and the engine didn´t want to start. Some spokes were broken and it was almost impossible to get some new. The clutch didn't work correctly. The fuel hose-pipe was clawed beetween the seat and the frame. And a lot of another failures. I didn't have any information about Madura, but I have loved it since the first look, so I decided to buy and repair. Repairing took 4 months. After that I am the happy Madura owner. I ride almost every day at least because of going to work.

I would like to meet with other Madura owners in Czech Republic. Madura is the rare motobike and I am happy that I own one.

EASY RIDE!!!

(7-13-05) I made changes to my Madura (see photos) so my wife would be more comfortable. The original backrest on these bikes are extremely uncomfortable. The new backrest is from a Kawasaki, the seat is from Honda, and the taillight is aftermarket. I also fabricated covers for the taillight wiring and to cover the space between drivers seat and passenger seat. Just thought you might want to see alternative looks for these great bikes... Norm

(7-21-05) Here's what we're starting with, cleaned her up a little and in need of some TLC. Not in bad shape though. I searched on Google for V-4 cruisers and discovered the unofficial site and Madura at same time. Decided I liked what I saw. Saw an ad on the site and bought her blind, totally unseen. What a deal!! Love it.

(7-24-05) This is my 1985 GV1200 Madura. I have had it only one year. It was a gift from my little brother who got a new bike, so he wanted me to have it because he knows how much I love them too. This bike needed a lot of T.L.C. and I continue to do that. It has been years since I have riden, and jumping off onto a power demon like the Madura is probably a bit more bike than my common sense says I should try to handle at this time. I am entertaining the idea of selling this rare jewel, although not in mint condition, it is by far the most satisfying ride that either of us has ever riden. E-mail me if you're interested.

(7-28-05) I bought her in Nashville in November 2004, she has only 2,000 miles, but she was rusty so I restored in winter 2005. My GV1200 number tree, and I wont sell this one.
