(8-10-05) Here is my madura 700. It was a piece of junk when I bought it. I don't know what to say, but I love it a lot, and I have built up a deep relationship with her. A SPECIAL THANKS TO MY DAD STEVE WHO FIXED THE BIKE. The pic is taken when it was my last day in Arizona.

Thanks a lot for having this site and for everybody's help.

(8-16-05) This is a 1985 Maroon V1200 with some added artwork. Had this 3 months now, my first bike. 44k mikes. Soon as I saw this bike I knew it was what I was looking for. I think it's pretty cool.

(8-28-05) My son and I pulled this '85 1200 out of his father-in-laws backyard in August 04. It had been there for ten years. When I pulled the air filter large bugs came out of the intake!

I pulled the plugs, shot a little WD 40 in each cylinder and the next day jumped the starter. Darned if she didn't turn over. Two weeks later I found this site and the forum. With much help from you guys I started riding her in March '05.

4-16-06: I pulled it out of a backyard where it had been for ten yrs. Vines and roots growing thru the wheels. Took three of us 1-1/2 hours just to get it out from between the privacy fence and the deck. (When the neighbors built their fence no one moved the bike, it had been there 5 yrs then). When I got it home and removed the tank and air filter, full-grown roaches and beetles crawled out of the intake. Two cans of bug killer, 4 - 5 months and a gas tank later she was running. 2 more months and she was street legal and I was riding!

Could never have done it without the wiring diagram and the discussion board. Thanks for all the work you put into this site.

(9-15-05) Someone on the discussion board asked me to send in photos... notice anything wrong with the seat? It was redone... backwards! How about the front wheel... the brakes are in the bag! But just looking at the distance photo you won't catch that. Some guy in Columbus, Ohio, sold me the bike... even took it to a shop and the shop called me and said great bike. Cranked it up and let me hear it on the phone... sounds good... they didn't mention the water pump was out and the oil light keeps coming on after a minute. But I have found another in NH and I'm getting it checked out as we speak. Now am I hard up or what? The one in NH came off of this site though, if that helps. He sent pics and it looks like brand new.

(9-16-05) Okay... it's about time I sent in a pic of my '86 GV1200. I've had it for about three years and have been having so much fun riding it that I haven't gotten much else done to it. It had been wrecked by the original owner, a friend of mine made it rideable and then scared himself on it. Sold her to me with just over 12k on the clock. As you can tell, the paint is not exactly stock. I got tired of having a black and maroon bike so I painted her myself. Not professional, but it's gonna be redone anyway. Of all the bikes I've owned, nothing compares to the Maddy.

(10-1-05) I bought this 1200GL from a friend in July 05. I haven't owned a bike since my 20's (I'm 55 now). I really enjoy riding it. My 85 1200GL has several issues and I'm in need of some answeres of some questions from someone who knows about the 1200GL. I live at 7200 feet elevation and I have heard that is a problem for the Madura. I appreciate the web site. Great photos and stories.

(10-20-05) Hi, I'm Brian, and the guy on my bars is Frank, my drinking buddy. Bought this bike [about Sept. 2005] and it did not run. Less than one hundred dollars later and a lot of elbow grease, and I'm ready to go... too late... it's Michigan and it's cold. Hope to see you all around.

(10-30-05) G'day. I got my Madura 1200 in Oct 2004, so I have had it for a little over 12 months. What a fab bike. Since I have had it, I have put about 6000k's on it - that's an average of about 115's a week, not too shabby seeing as I only ride local (no more than 30 or so k's from home). By far the Madura is the most fun bike I have ever owned. Seeing as I only ride local the lousy fuel range don't bother me that much.

(1-27-06) Here is my 1985 Madura GV1200GLF. This is my 3rd bike with my first two being a 1972 Honda Mini-trail 50 and a 1981 Kawasaki KE 100, so this bike is considerably bigger and faster. I knew absolutely nothing about these bikes when I purchased it and found this website a few months thereafter. Not sure how many prior owners there were, but the guy I bought her from kept it in great condition and sold me on the bike by allowing me to take it out on numerous rides at my own discretion. I believe that he added the rims, new seat covers and had both engine side covers chromed as they are real beauties. He even threw in an extra set of chrome mirrors, a cover and some saddle bags that I have since removed. It's pretty much in the same shape it was in when I purchased it in October of 1999 with the exception of the 3,500 miles that I have added. Yes, that's right only 3,500 miles in six years. I bought her on a whim, rode her quite a bit at first and then just barely enough to keep the battery charged between crankings. She was basically a show piece in my garage. I did replace both tires, the battery and the street shield with an identical one from National Cycle. I have just recently become interested in restoring her to as mint condition as possible and have really become active on the website by reading and requesting all the information I can. I am planning on attending my first Mayhem this year and hope to have everything on my "to-do" list accomplished by then.

I just recently had the front fork seals replaced and changed the secondary and final drive gear oil for the first time since I have owned it. And, yes I have changed the engine oil a bit more frequently, but other than that you just add gas to this bike and it goes. She has run perfectly every time I take it out and not a time goes by that I don't get a compliment or two. So after six years, I have come to realize that I'll never capture the perfect picture so here she is!

(1-30-06) Here is a picture of my 1985 GV700L. I just gave her a custom paint job and I think she looks beautiful. I had a local artist do his thing on her and she looks beautiful now. I got my GV700 for my 40'th birthday from my wife... She is the most awesome and understanding wife ever! Anyway, I've been working or restoring it and modifying it to make it a bit unique but not loose it's true identity. She is still work in progress. So far I put a custom paint job by a local artist, and getting it cleaned up. Next would be new wheel and more clean up.

Still have a lot of work to be done to get her cosmetically in shape. Clean (rust-free) wheels (or buy new ones) and overall rust clean up and polish any chrome areas. I also what to move the foot controls forward a bit to give her that cruiser feel... can't wait!
