(3-30-06) While at a breakfast prayer meeting as we were talking about bikes, Rob said that he had a couple of Kawasakis and a Suzuki in his yard. So I asked him what kind of Suzuki?... He casually said... "Oh, it's a 1200 Madura and"... Well before he could say anything else and after picking myself off the floor, I said "A -M-M-M-ad-ura??? Well we flew down to his house after gulping down my breakfast burritto and saying a couple of "Amens". The "Before" shot [not shown] was taken after rescuing it from a friend that had it outside under a huge pile of trash with beer cans and the smell of pee everywhere. It was like rescuing a precious baby from the dumpster. Pulled it out of the trash, took it to the shop, cleaned it up, charged the battery and it started up after a few tries... "Halelujah... She's ALIVE!" I yelled! Then after a couple of minutes gas started leaking from everywhere from the gas tank and carbs. Long story short, I've been working on it for a few weeks and it's looking good. Can't wait to ride it soon. Please visit my website at www.SpaceRods.com - I am a designer and would like to share my ideas with everyone.

[updated photo shows Sal's customization, quite a contrast to the dirty, neglected Madura he picked up]

(4-2-06) This is my husband Denis, my Maddie and me Sun. April 02 2006. I'd first learned about Maduras when I started riding in 2000 and read about them in Jim Bennett's, "The Complete Motorcycle Book" (2nd Ed. 1999). The last couple of years especially I'd acquired quite a yearning for one. March 17 Denis surprised me with the keys to my very own GV1200GLF over dinner. He rode it home on the 25th in 0 degrees Celsius (32 F) with snow falling and meltwater on the roads and two days later I had my first ride! It was everything and more that I had come to expect. I've rode it nearly every day this week, done an oil change, ordered a service manual and the first of many parts to pretty her up. I am thinking of calling her Maddie Mae because of her throaty, seductive presence. Summer has never looked so good as it does from between the handlebars of a Maddie!

(2-21-07) I Picked up my Madura (Suzi as we call her) a couple of years ago. The original owner was a NJ police officer, and took good care of it. The guy I got it from is a hard coor HD guy and rode it while he rebuilt his 69 Iron Horse. It was lelt out-side near the NJ ocean. So I rode it for over a year, and now I'm dress her up to look as good as she runs. I'll post again as work continues.

Aloha and God Bless

(3/22/07) This is a picture of what my 85 GV1200 looks like now. It needs some cosmetic work, a good cleaning and some polishing but other than that its the best bike I've ever owned. It's not a 1200 anymore though its been bored out to almost 1400cc and runs like a spotted ape. I'll send more pictures as it comes along but untill then keep riding.

(5-28-07) Madura story: Well I bought it from an old friend who got it from his father, its has a fair amount of miles but it has been well taken care of.  There is a couple scratches here and there but the engine has been rebuilt and runs like new. After I purchased it I found out how hard it is to find parts for it. I was only able to find one shop in Utah that had a Madura to scrap parts from. (lucky me) Anyway Im planing to put some bigger bars on it and give it a new paint job. After that Ill most likely take it to Madura Mayhem. (if i can get the time off). In conclusion, I love the bike and love the style, and Im proud to be a part of the Madura family.

(5-28-07) I bought the attached 86 1200 straight from the showroom in 1986. Never a minutes problem. A Suzuki retired mechanic once told me the reason they were only made two years - they never saw them again.
