(9-7-03) Ok, after some hounding, I am FINALLY getting a pic of my Madura on the website. It is an 85 GV1200. I bought her from a co-worker in August 2001. I had no idea what a Madura was, as a matter of fact I knew practically nothing about motorcycles as this was/is my first bike. The bike didn’t run and my co-worker had no idea what it could be and no knowledge to try to figure it out. I took it off of his hands for $500. Additionally, she was nowhere near the shape she is in now. Some one had painted ( yes painted ) the aluminum silver and she was in need of some TLC. After a few hours of tinkering, I determined the “not running” issue to be only a kinked fuel line to the carbs. $1.92 later I had a running bike. My original plan was to merely get the bike running and sell it, as I had no intention of riding a motorcycle. However, as I was testing it out after getting it running, I fell in love with riding and have been hooked since.
In the winter of 2001/2002 I spent countless hours stripping, wet-sanding, and polishing the aluminum to the state it is in now. I rebuilt the carbs and did a major tune up then too. She was road worthy and licensed in the spring of 2002. I tore the bike down to the frame this past spring and repainted the frame and rebuilt EVERYTHING as it was replaced on the bike. It was a good bit of work but very rewarding, too. It is a great running bike and a true pleasure to ride.

(11-09-03) I think it's the best bike there is, power, handling, fun!!!!!!! There is no more to see about this bike. I found this bike in 2001, it was standing in a corner of a shed. It was standing there from 1996 witout a front wheel and tank; the wheel was broken and the tank was somewhere else to be found. It didn't run at that time but I did want the bike and so I got him, and I am glad I have him.

(11-12-03) I used to ride a Yamaha XS650 (chopped and customised) which is a very good bike (beautiful sound) and wasn't actually looking for another one at all until I saw this Madura GV1200 on a picture on Internet. It was for sale and my first impulsive thought was: this beauty is going to be mine! I had never seen it nor even heard of it before; I bought it anyway (price was OK). It is a 1985 model and it had 19000 mls on it (now 21000). I never regret my impulsive action, it ís a great bike!

(11-20-03) This is the Cadzuki GV1200 I pulled this bike out of
a barn where it had been lying on its side in the mud for over 10 years. After tons of work and a bit of cash this is what I ended up with. 85 GV1200, 21in. front wheel, Ducati 900 monster rear shock lowers the rear about 2", Fatbab rigid frame rear fender with 59 Cadillac tailights, custom dagger front fender, Honda Shadow 1100 handlebars, ceramic coated stock exhaust, mc
enterprize hiway bars, Willie & Max saddlebags sissybar bag and front tool bag. Base coat clear coat PPG Omni gold series paint. Metezler 140/80 x 16" rear tire, Avon 80/90 x 21" front. This bike runs like new and is very very fast!!! I still have a long way to go with the look, but at least I can ride it while it evolves. Thanks for lookin, Tony

(4-4-04) A year ago I was looking for a used bike, I have had two other motorcycles in my life and was looking for a CB900 Custom, and wasn't having much luck. Then one evening my 19 year old son came in and said there was a bike for sale near were we live, so I went with him to see what he was talking about. It turned out to be an 85 1200 Madura. At first I was turned off by the bike, it had been painted with a can of yellow spray paint and had homemade turn signals. So I said I was not interested and went home. So later I started thinking more about it, and imagining how it could look with some new paint. I started doing a little research and found this website and was impressed by what I read, so I went back and took a ride, I was sold !!!!
The guy I bought the bike from was a minister and had the bike three years and had put 3000 miles on her, making a total of 33000. He said the Madura had been given to him and he was selling it to by a gokart for his kids. So with a new paint job and some very needed service, I have a great bike, and I'm proud to have a bike with its own character and to be a part of a very special group of riders. I hope our relationship will last many years.

(4-5-04) Seems that I found a rare jem, an '85 original charcoal gray 1200 Madura! I don't have the money to purchase insurance yet, and it is killing me to have it in the shed. I polish the bike a lot, and tinker around with all the minor quirks that seem to be the norm for this bike (the clearcoat, rusty spokes etc.) but I am sure when finished it will be the ride of my life. I love the looks and I haven't seen another 1200 anywhere in many years near my home. I look forword to posting a few pictures when it's finished and I hope to ride with someone who shares the passion for these beautiful machines. I live in a small town just East of Toronto, Ontario Canada.

(4-10-04) I started out with Suzuki's and apart from a brief time when I owned two Yamahas, I've never looked back! My first motorcycle (aside from my minibikes as a youth) was a 78 Suzuki 750. Then I purchased an 82 GS550. I road those two for many years and eventually sold them. I came across a good deal that I couldn't pass up for a couple of Yamahas after that, an 82 650 Midnight Special, and an 850 Triple. I sold those two because they didn't stack up to my Suzuki's and one was two big and one was two small.
I was searching for another Suzuki and was looking at the Intruder or possibly getting another GS750 or 850. Then while browsing the Internet for Suzuki's I stumbled onto the Suzuki Madura website. After reading about the bike I was really impressed and set out to look for one. I watched Ebay, Cycletrader.com and all around the Internet. It took me about six months of looking but finally on cycletrader.com I found two GV1200's that were listed in Florida, one was relatively close to me so I called the guy and we negotiated a good deal. After riding this bike, it's hard to imagine riding anything else. I absolutely fell in love! After experiencing the many bikes that I've owned and also my friend's bikes, I am now Madura rider for life! I really owe it all to this website which came up in the search engine when I was looking for another Suzuki GS! Otherwise I may have never heard of a Madura. Thank you to the host of this website for bringing me all of this riding pleasure!!!!
