(4-10-04) I live in Poland. My Madura is a 1985 V700 and it now has 18,000 miles on it, I have owned it since 2002 and the only thing I have had to do to it is oil changes and replace the brakes, this bike is virtually maintenance free. It seems that whenever I ride it anywhere I always seem to get a compliment on my bike.

Exelente maquina!

Gracias

(4-13-04) My sister's boyfriend had this sitting in his garage in Chicago for years collecting dust. He loved it but never seemed to have time in his schedule to enjoy it. In my profession, I travel frequently from my home in New Jersey to various places around the country. During my travels to southern Wisconsin, he would let me borrow it to ride the rolling hills of the Wisconsin dairy country. After my fourth summer of borrowing his Madura, he said, "keep it, the only time is gets out is when you take it. I feel bad for it and you enjoy it so much, so it yours." I was shocked and giddy with excitement. How could I repay for him for such an extraordinary gift?

I decided I simply could not other than to send him a little souvenir from everywhere the bike takes me. He was thrilled with that notion. I drove it home to New Jersey from Wisconsin without a working turn signal, speedometer, horn, electrical problems and a small oil leak but it made the trip. As winter approached, I put about $1000.00 to fix everything it is running like new. I'm now in Sarasota, Florida, on business for the next 3 months so I brought it with me to enjoy the sunny Gulf coast. It is a joy and it gets compliments from other riders all the time. I'm looking forward to my leisurely trip back to New Jersey in June along the eastern seaboard. I hope to see some other Madura riders along the way.

(5-10-04) My first bike was a Norton 750 in 1967. There was no helmet law then. I used to ride it wearing my father's old leather aviator hat from WWII. Ah, those were the days. After that I had a few Triumphs and a sweet '65 Sportster. A '71 Honda 750 in the late seventies was my introduction to the Japanese motorcycle. I really liked that bike. I wish I still had it.

I did the family thing in the eighties and much of the nineties. In 1997 I decided to get another bike. I was living outside of Boone NC at the time. Driving to town I had to pass this little car lot. I kept noticing this bike sitting on the porch. So one day I stopped and took a look. It was an '85 Madura. I had never heard of the bike. But I could tell by looking at it that it was well built. The guy also had a really nice 750 Honda. The Honda was sharper but I knew the Suzuki was a better bike. In March of 1997 I traded my '69 Ford pickup for the Madura. It is undoubtably one of the best trades ever made. I got her with about 10,000 miles on her. Now she's got about 30,000 and runs like a top. She is by far the best bike I've ever had.

(5-10-04) This is a bike that was recovered from a theft back in 1988, I purchased it from a friend who won the 800.00 bid in auction. Several parts were removed by the thief trying to change the look. With many hours on E-Bay bidding I finely had all the parts. Each and every spoke was removed and hand polished, trued and balanced. The bike only had 12k miles and is a real power horse. I love every moment that I fire it up and put the power to the road.

(5-11-04) I bought this Madura from a great friend in October 2002. It has been an awesome experience. My wife and kids love it, too. Thanks to all the Discussion Board members who answer all my questions when I get stumped. What a great additional “family” to belong to!

I know some find it a little too eccentric for their taste, but my wife has always said I like to take things to extreme! There are more pictures on my homepage http://home.earthlink.net/~the_lyons_den/ [including pictures of what it looked like before it got the new custom paint job]

(5-15-04) Got this bike at a dealer for a great deal. Glad I bought it, never seem to be home any more. I have never seen another one around in my town yet... sorta makes me feel special. Have a great ride eh!
