1/6/06: Thanks for all your efforts in putting the time into the site. I bought my Madura about 3 months ago and really had not heard of them till I saw one for sale. I use to always want a VMax but when I saw this bike listed and compared to VMax and then was able to view it and get your info on the website I knew I need to go have a look at it in person and ride it. It was love at first ride...lol. I really like the bike and am in the process of restoring it now. I find the website to be almost invaluable for info and sharing ideas and things. Thanks again for your time and effort in putting it together.

1/3/06: bought this bike 12/31/05.Had no idea about this ride but was wanting another one since getting rid of my last bike which was a '85 shadow 700 which was only made for two years also. I've been riding off and on for the past 35 years.I picked this one mostly for the way it looked and size, then found this web page and was surprised to find so much info about what I had purchased. It has 26,000 miles m/l on it and in fine shape and seems to run great. So far I'm really happy with it although I've only rode it twice and only put on 60 miles so far but plan on putting much more. I am also happy to see so many riders stories of how well they love their Maduras and hope mine will be and great as theirs seem to be, which, I'm sure it will be, Thanks

6/1/05: I have owned every major brand of motorcycle that is out there, I have owned up to 9 motorcycles at one time, and I find the Suzuki Mmadura 1200 the best of the best. Very few flaws I find with this bike, the biggest one of course is the fuel range, I rode mine from Alaska to Mexico, and never had any problem with it ever, never not one time did I ever experience a break-down. I am currently looking for another 1200 to restore... the finest motorcycle Suzuki ever built as far as I am concerned. PS I've owned Harleys too and the Madura is a much nicer ride.

5/31/05: If it hadn't been for your web page I probably wouldn't have my 85 Madura V1200. Previously I had a 82 GS1100L and was looking for something in the same power range (preferably Suzuki) when I spotted an ad for this Madura in a town about 1 hour away from me. I had to look it up on the web as I had not heard of one much less seen one. Your web page was obviously the first search hit and I spent quite a bit of time reading and checking out owners bikes and decided it was what I wanted and picked it up the next day. After some much needed basic maintenance, I'm enjoying the ride as often as possible.
The Madura page is a great source of information and a pipeline for help from other owners which makes owning one that much more enjoyable. Thanks.
Best regards,

1/28/05: I recently purchased for the second time a pristine Madura 700 with 24,000 miles on the odometer. I originally owned this Madura and foolishly sold it to my 34 year old son in 1997. During a recent visit to Omaha to visit him I noticed the once proud Madura wasting away in his garage covered with years of dust, collapsed front forks, and generally needing repairs. The Madura had not run for years!
My son felt my sorrow and made me an offer I could not refuse to remove this "thing" from his garage.
After draining old gasoline and carb cleaning, a new battery was installed and my Madura ran again!
Following that, all oil, filters, and drive line oil changes were done before many cosmetic repairs were completed. It now looks so good and performs like it did when new, I don't see myself ever selling it again.
Before buying back this Madura I owned a new Madura 1200 and also a new Harley Davidson Fat Boy. To be honest the Madura 700 is my choice for comfort and performance for everyday riding.
I was thrilled to find this website and read comments from other Madura owners. I have the original factory advertising brochure for the 700 and also the 1200, and would be willing to share color reporductions of these.

12/12/04: Owned my first bike which was a maroon 1200 in 1998. I loved that bike and I have missed it since I laid her down. I knew she was quick and I knew she was strong. I guess I just didn't know how strong. Showing off for a girl I twisted her and she responded so fast I flew off the back. Broke my nose and had 6 stitches in my eyebrow and one in the corner of my eye not to mention road rash on the side of my head. No more twisting them for me. Just nice easy cruising. Just bought another 1200 and am looking forward to tricking her out and going to Daytona in 05 on her. See you there.

9/24/04: This is my first year riding ( I'm 49!) and I just got this beauty (23,000 Km) yesterday, after 5 months on Yamaha Maxim 750. What a difference! It is so smooth and crisp in its acceleration and shifting that you don't notice your speed. And the sound is sensational. I hesitated before going to see it, but reading the glowing reviews in this forum gave me the push I needed. Once aroud the block and I was hooked. Thank you to all you contributors!

6/30/04: A friend told me of a motorcycle for sale cheap, we went, we saw, we took it home. I did not know it was a collector. 2 weeks later I had it completely road ready including windshield, highway pegs, new tires, etc. It came with a Suzuki shop manual which has been a great help. Nothing but fun since, rain or shine.

6/20/04: This bike is one of the most enjoyable, fast and comfortable cruiser I have ever ridden. The V-4 1200cc (1185cc) has more power than needed for most riders. The driveshaft is easier to maintain and provides a lot of low-end torque. I definitely suggest for curious minds to ride one if you have the chance.

| 9/6/03: Well I bought this Piece Of Machine on Sept 2, 2003.
I originally wasn't looking for this type of bike, because the ad in Cycle Trader that I was responding to was for a Honda CB750. When I called the guy he said he had several bikes that he had for sale. He lived about 10 miles away so off I was to his place. I test drove a couple of the bikes, two Hondas and then the Madura. When I rode the Madura, I totally fell in love with it. For one, I loved the smoothness of the ride, and the gages really were an eye catcher too, because i like knowing what gear I am shifting into and the fuel light is nice too. Althought I did run outta gas twice with this bike and it was like when the fuel light comes on you better be at a gas station lol. But anyways mine is an '85 GV700, it has 8800 miles on it, I bought it for $1600 and it came with a helmet too :) I found this web page two days after I bought the bike, because I was looking for a manual on how to change the oil and stuff. Anyways, I am glad I bought this bike, because I at first didn't know how rare the bike was or anything about it either. Well now that I found they only made this bike for two years and in two models, I wont get rid of it ever! And since I've owned this bike less than a week, I have put over 200 miles on it.

| 9/22/02: I don’t have a photo of my Madura yet. I will get one soon. I got my Madura from a guy from work. He owns some rentals and it was left behind when his renters moved out east. The price was right. I had a couple of utility trailers and he had the bike. So I traded one of the trailers for the bike.
The bad thing was filing for a title. Come to find out, a kid that had died owed the bike and his father sold it to the renter. The bike was dumped on the right side and was inoperable. This guy started fixing it up and got it running (took about 8 years of tinkering). When this guy went to title the bike he had the old title and all the paper work except he didn’t get a death certificate. He tried to find the father, but he was recently deceased too. By the time he was going to move (1 year later) still no title. After I got the bike in July 2001 and a lot more work than I though. I got it running, titled and out on the open road.
I have a new motto now: “Don’t buy anything from a dead guy.”

| 9/8/02: [My bike] is the "Crozier Canadian" also known by the owner as the "Grey Lady", bought new by Bill Crozier of High Level, Alberta and lovingly cared for by he and his wife Cathy until they saw fit to sell her to me. It's my second 1200 and this one will be mine until Tina (my wife) lets you guys know I'm room temp. and it needs a third owner.
My first one was bought in Franklin, Tennessee in December 1986 with 2500 or so miles (first owner was intimidated by the size, traded it pretty quickly). Sold it to finance my second year of art school in May of 1989 by my brother Jim (at my request of course) with 32,000 + on the clock. It still looked and rode GREAT and if the cop in Largo, Florida who bought it reads this, give me an e-mail... I'd love to know what happened to her.
It is the exclusive charcoal grey colour (see, I'm a quick study, I spelled color in Canadian!) and has a kilo's only speedometer. It's in mint condition, never even grazed a moose, and has 15,000 kilometers at delivery. I plan to drive it only 1000 miles or so a year, I want to make this one last!
My wife has a '98 Katana 600 so I have a nice variety of rides to pick from. I live in Orlando and would love to hook up with another Maddie owner in the central Florida area 1200 or 700. E-mail me at fan4fan1@cfl.rr.com or you can call me at work and leave a voice mail at (407)560-1497.
Glad to be aboard, and see ya' at the gas pump!!!!

8/16/02: I brought my Madura in March of 84, I fell in love the first secound I laid eyes or her. I've changed her oil and fluids, a couple of head light bulbs, one universal joint at 75000 and the rear shock at 100,005. Replaced the odometer drive twice, the glass in the mirrors rattled out at around 85000. I've replaced the front brake pads three times and the rear ones two months ago. Together we've seen the lower 48 states and a good part of Canada. I was 36 when we met and she's never let me down. We rode together yesterday at 100+ and we both loved it as much as we did 18 wonderful years ago. She doesn't look as good as she once did but neither do I.

4/4/02: I love hopping (OOPS) not that young anymore, so I slowly and carefully put myself into the worn out seat of my best friend, my Suzuki, and ride into my own little world for a minute or an hour and OH, what a feeling of the wind upon your back!!!! Then back to the REAL WORLD. All you Suzuki riders E-mail me any time, would love to hear from everybody with this interest.

3/11/02: I have followed this bike (GV1200) thru three prior owners who are fellow riders and now it belongs to me. It would be difficult to distinguish this bike from its original arrival some 8085 actual miles ago. I love it for its uniqueness even though I am a V twin fan. I also bought a new '87 Honda Shadow Spirit 1100 that I swear by. I am also restoring a '59 Mustang Pony and '60 Mustang Thoroughbred as well as a '57 Cushman Deluxe Highlander. Looking for that certain Kawasaki Vulcan 750 and now that Harley is getting its act together I feel a new Road King FI on the horizon. Gotta do it now as I am 61 yrs and feel 31. Best to all!

| 2/12/02: MADURA PEOPLE! I'm so glad to say, I'm part of the Madura breed! I purchased a few weeks ago my own GV1200. Got it from my friend's riding buddy, and since my first test drive (200 miles) I was in love with the bike. I probably paid too much "market wise" for this one (2K) considering that it was sold new for around 4K in 85. But the way I see it, (half cup full) for the money I have the one of the best rides I've had. I know of guys that spend 4 times that and are not as happy as I am in mine. The bike has been well maintained, custom painted, and has great speed tires. I can blow away the guy who sold me the bike and has a 1200 BMW easy. There's nothing like riding my Madura, smokin a Maduro, and banging a mujer madura! haaa!
Peace, love, and a great sunny day to ride your dream bikes!

10/27/01: Saw an ad for a Madura 700 and went to look, it had a number of small things wrong plus 37,000 miles on it. Spent time looking over this site and decided to take a chance on the bike. Paid $750 for it and am getting enthused over her... no if it would quit raining I could add to the miles. I hope all you guys/gals out there are good at answering questions, as I'm going to be needing help fixing some of the problems, at least none of them are preventing riding.

8/9/01: Bought a 1981 Yamaha Virago 750 a couple of years ago. Mono-shock (air) in the back and dual air shocks on the front. Shaft drive. I thought it was one of the most comfortable bikes I had ridden. Then a friend offers to sell me his Suzuki 1200 for $1,000. Many minor problems, but fixable and cosmetically great. A "Suzuki"? Who rides a Suzuki? Then I rode it, and fell instantly in love! Fixed the starter (Clutch switch dirty) and assorted little things, changed all the fluids and now I have the sweetest riding bike I have ever owned! For 1000 bucks! Yeah! A Suzuki!

7/10/01: Just bought my Susie from a gentleman who kept her in perfect condition. Its Maroon in color and its got to be the sweetest ride around. I was really lucky to find her. Not only is her looks fresh but I love the idea of owning a piece of Muscle Bike History. Again what a ride and what a find!

7/4/01: I am the third owner of this [GV1200], the first fellow used it to commute to work, then sold it to his nephew. I bought it for $1500.00 with only 23K miles. It had only minor scratches and rust from sea air. In the four years I have owned the bike I have put 35K miles on it with only a few easily fixed problems. I love this bike! Currently starting to customize, and will send pics when complete.

| 6/19/01: My name is John, I live in the UK and have just
purchased an American import Madura V1200, very, very rare in the UK, and had to pay £2995 bp, $6000 canadian!!!! This is how rare they are here. I see from one of your contributors to the letters page, Mike Harrison, that he travels to to the Rockies. I can see it now, as I flew into Calgary from the UK last year to see an old friend I had not seen for over 30 years, a surprise for his 50th birthday. Travelling from Calgary into the Rockies to Golden where Alan lives was a wonderful experience, not only because it was March - so still lots of snow, something we seldom see here in the Midlands of the UK - but what wonderful highways. The UK roads are so congested and so very fast, most of my superbike buddies travel at 120-130+ mph on main roads, faster on motorways. Anyway, to get back to the Madura, it is in really good, original condition, have never seen another one here, it will live with my last year's Suzuki VS1400 Intruder, 1952 500cc Ajs model 18s and my 1977 Suzuki DR400.
Anyway, great site to visit, enjoy the Maduras, long may they reign supreme.

6/6/01: I just bought a 700 Madura today... immaculate condition... for $2000 from the original owner. The bike has new rubber and 16000 km. The old fellow has a bad back. The bike is in mint condition and I couldn't believe the power when I took it for a ride around the block. I look forward to getting to know this bike and other owners.

5/14/01: I have owned [my GV700GLF] six years, paid $1200.00 from a Honda dealer, apparently did not know the bike cause the guy said, "I have this bike in back I'll let you have cheap, It's not so great." Little did he know that the bike is great... runs like a rabbit... handles good also. No major problems since I bought it... and have never seen one on the road since then either!

5/13/01: I have only had my Madura a short time and have had people trying to buy it left and right, including the previous owner who I bought it from. The only thing I can say to them is IT'S NOT FOR SALE!!!

4/10/01: By far, the best bike I have ever owned.
Speed, brute force, and a great pleasure to ride. The only down fall I can find with it, is that I don't have two of them, 'cause my wife loves riding as much as I do....
Mark Garrisone

4/8/01: This is an amazing piece of machinery. For an '85 this machine is still very competitive with the 2000 models. It kicks ass, but does not compromise on the full comfort. I am a proud owner!!! If Suzuki started selling this model today they would probablly make a killing.

4/6/01: Hello Madura Bikers: I say hello with a smile on my face after my first ride on my GV1200GL-86, yesterday in rain and snow, and I payed for my bike today (6500dollars). I am mailing from Norway, 12km south of Osloin Tønsberg (the oldest town in Norway), there I am going to live on the road with my bike at work and in my freetime. I will send you picture of my bike later.

| 3/29/01: I live in Bronte, Ontario, Canada. I ride a 1984 Madura GV700GL, maroon in colour. I've been to Newfoundland and many other places along the way 3
times on this bike without a hitch. There's about 80000Km on the bike because of all my tours.
A memorable experience I had was in Newfoundland. I was travelling the Viking Trail in 1998 heading back south to the town of Cow Head from Saint Anthony up on the northern tip of Newfoundland. Cow Head is where my dad now lives (He's retired there from Ontario), it's very near to Gros Morne National Park. Anyway, everybody knows not to drive past dusk on the roads in Newfoundland because of the moose that hang out by the side of, and on the road. It's pretty deserted out there. To make a long story short, I was about an hour from Cow Head and it was starting to get dark. My girlfriend was fast asleep on the back of my bike; she was tired from the day and could sleep through anything. All I could think of was thank goodness for the high back rest on the Madura! Just to let you know I did keep trying to wake her but she'd just fall asleep again, talk about a smooth ride...Well I'm still driving and sure enough don't the moose start to come out; I counted 19 of them in a 40 km stretch on that road. By the time I got near Cow Head my nerves were pretty rattled, dodging moose and keeping my girlfriend on the back of the bike. I pulled over and got as close to one of those huge moose as was safely possible and nudged my girlfriend to wake her up. She screamed, the moose took off and I could ride in peace now because she wasn't sleeping anymore. We made it safe and pretty much sound back to Cow Head with a story to share.

| 3/25/01: To whom it may concern:
Hello, recently decided to restore my ole girl as opposed to buying a new rocket. Curious, I stumbled onto this site. This is great!
My Maddy has been setting up for over three years now and this spring she gets her re-birth. She has all of 68xx miles on her.
I look forward to getting to know other owners of the Madura and learning what there is to know. (Heck, I've never seen another Madura in real life)!
2001 is gonna be a good year!
Best regards,
Michael

12/4/00: I have had my bike four 6 years I purchased it for $900.00 dollars with only 3500 miles on it and it's been a great bike. I have taken it on several bike runs to New Mexico and other areas in Colorado and it has never let me down. I have recently had a custom paint job done to it and now it looks even better. I just wanted to see and hear from others because here in my home town I have not seen any other Maduras nor at any bike ralleys.

7/30/00: The story of my bike is kind of long but, interesting. My brother bought it new in 85. He rode it for 2 years and only put 3500 miles on it. Then he sold it to my Dad who has ridden it for years off and on. The bike was originaly bought in Georgia nad then went to Utah and is now in Texas. I'm over seas with the millitary but when I get back my Dad is going to give it to me! I've loved that bike since I first laid eyes on it and have no plans of ever selling it. So maybe my son will be riding it. Until he's of age (he's 2) it looks like I get to play with my new ride.

7/27/00: My bike is the very limited sundowner series which differs from others due to gold spoke rims. My dealer tells me it's one of only two on the island of Newfoundland.I would like to know anyone else with a Sundowner series and if in fact this is more valuable than other maduras.I have been offered $2000.00 Canadian for the bike which I am presently Restoring from cosmetic decay.Love to here from other madura fanatics. Thanks for establishing such a great site.

7/18/00: I am a business manager for a Ford dealership, and ran into an individual needing some quick cash. He had this bike for sale, and it turned out to be the 85 Madura GL 1200 model... I bought it for $1000 even, and other than some paint needed on the gas tank, and some tune up work, it runs great. It seems by this web site, I found a bargain.

| 7/5/00: I am new to the Madura, but not to motorcylces. This past weekend a friend called and said, "You like motorcylces don't you?" "Yes," I said. He said he had one he would give me if I could move it right away. When asked what it was and what was wrong with it he said. "It was large and had been sitting for about five years in the basement." Other than that he knew nothing. To my surprise it was a mint looking 1985 GV1200GLF. Several hours of elbow grease should reveal a beautiful bike. To my disgust someone had removed the airfilter and the mice had packed the air box full of dog food. That was a first for me.
The plan is to build the carbs, change all of the fluids and do a general tune up. The only area of concern is the condition on the spokes. They are intact but all of the chrome is gone. How do I recondition them? The wheels are brushed aluminum and should clean up to a shine with wire brushes, steel wool and elbow grease.... editor
Now I have a current stable of 4 bikes.

1987 Suzuki SP 200 Street/trail
1986 Honda 650 Night Hawk/CA Sidecar

| (6-13-00) I had owned a Madura while in University, but had to give it up for several reasons. I went a few years without a bike, but felt the itch to get out of the cage. I looked at several bikes, I wanted the power along with the comfort of a cruiser, I looked at several new models including the only V4 cruiser the Honda Magna. I missed my Madura. Then I ran into this one, in close to mint condition. The owner had all the original receipts of work done on the bike and took great care of it. I am glad that I found the Madura again and look forward to a great summer of riding!

| THE REMAINING STORIES WERE BEFORE DATE TRACKING WAS STARTED, PRE-2000
|
I just bought my Madura five days ago (June 2000) and have put nearly 1000 km on it so far. I find the bike easy and friendly to ride. The last bike I had was a '84 V-65 Magna. The Madura is way less scary to "get on to" while still being peppy enough to push once in a while. As soon as I get my photos back, I'll post a few. I'm sure I'll have this bike for a very long time.
Bob Schock
|
| With a 699 cubic centimeters, liquid cooled V4 engine, loaded with a shaft drive, six-speed transmission, adjustable preload for rear suspension, air-assisted front suspension, and hydraulically actuated wet clutch among others, really makes the Madura a delightful ride. An experienced rider can take a lot of sport tourers on the road for a surprise, with "see ya" style performance. Somewhere acceptable leaning room for the twisty roads, but an occasional peg or center stand scratch might surprise you. Just as a remark, this bike will go from 0 to 110 miles per hour and above very quickly.
The major down fall is the small gas tank, which only holds 3.2 gallons including reserve [that's the California model. The 'normal' models hold 3.4 gallons - editor]. It makes gas station stops a must every 150 miles. I can tell you that the attention to detail on this bike is what surprised me the most. Gear selection display among the gauges for temperature, rpm, speed and other idiot lights, such as side stand down and etc. Every time I ride it, I can understand what's to own a Cadillac with the northstar V8 system. A motorcycle packed with luxury,
comfort, and lots of grip-twisting instigation.
Red line does not start until it reaches eleven thousand, five hundred rpm. A surprising, delightful ride, especially if you are not used to V engines.
Daniel C. de Mendonça
Second owner (Found it in a barn with 6 thousand original miles). After 1 year of ownership - 14.5 thousand original miles

| Just thought I'd post a follow up! Since last writing, I've logged a little over 10,000 K's on my Madura. This has been an extremely enjoyable experience so far - in the last year I have done everything from commute to and from work to participating in the annual ride for Diabetes held in Black Diamond, Alberta (E-Mail me at wrollo@telusplanet.net for info). The bike has been almost trouble free and compared to any crotch rocket of it's size very powerful and oh! so comfortable - what a wonderful introduction to motorcycling! I purchased my bike from the guy in the Mr. Madura & Son testimonial you saw on this page. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to talk him out of his 1200 yet (I've ridden it a couple of times - wow!), and as the 1999 season will be upon us soon, I'd like to get my hands on a 1200 in decent shape - anyone who has one for sale, within a decent range of Alberta, Canada (and of course for a reasonable price) please contact me at the above E-Mail address- I'd be interested in looking at it.
The rides we've taken throughout the Alberta Foothills have been stupendous, I have been able to enjoy some of the most beautiful sights and smells offered anywhere, and even with my meagre 700 cc's, I've managed to outpace just about anyone that I've ridden with. Anybody out there have any problems with it running rough at about 3500-4000 RPM, I know of three maduras in this are, 1-1200 & 2-700's, and they all seem to have the same problem.

I've only had it for one summer, but it is the best bike I've owned so far. It's a 1985 GV1200... I drive a truck, so it came with me on a few trips and had some great times riding in different states.

| Don't know if it'll help, but the Shop manual is available for $62.99 plus tax and shipping (at least for the 700). I picked mine up from a Dealer in Mufreesboro, TN. I also have the user manual, and The 85 sales brochure, as well as the 86 1200 sales brochure. My biggest problem with my bike is cost of parts. Left side of the handlebars is bent (just slightly, somebody dumped it before I purchased it), and the dealer wants $75.00 for a new set. Paint also faded before I bought it, but it did a sunburst effect on the tank, revealing the gold primer underneath. Looks cool cause it goes from the maroon to a champagne color. If you need any info, drop me a line.
Remember, it's not the person riding the bike that is dangerous, it's everyone around us...

| Just wanted to say that I just replaced the clutch on my GV1200. I went with Suzuki fibers, steels and springs. This is, I must mention, a very easy job. Got it done in under 3 hours. The most time-consuming part was getting the old gasket off of the clutch cover mating surfaces. I found that spraying carb cleaner on the old gasket softens it up, making it MUCH easier to scrape off with a razor blade. I'm now going to detail the whole bike, including polishing all clear coated parts. And then I'll finally spring for a photo scanner so I can get this sharp bike of mine on the website. (See Photos Page 1)
P.S. Now that the clutch is fixed, I was able to to find out how she goes. I'm 225lbs. and this big heavy bike, stayed right with a friend of mine on his 94' VFR750 from a 50mph roll..Quite impressive, don't you think?
Also wanted to let you know that I just purchased a factory service manual for my 85' Madura and anyone who has a question or problem with they're bike can feel free to E- mail me with any questions. Also, in response to Bill Rollo's
inquiry about rough running at 3 to 4,000rpm, mine also does that under very light throttle esp. in the lower gears when there is little load on the engine. I will be researching this with my bike and will be reporting any findings in regard to this quirk. I seem to think that it might have to do with the pilot circuit in the carbs since they are preset at the factory and sealed. They are probably set lean for emissions reasons. I'll let you know my findings. One other thing, does anyone even MAKE a 110/80-19 59H tire anymore?
My bike currently runs a 100/90-19 which seems to work fine.

HELP WANTED to find an original users guide and technical specifications program for the one and only bike in the world the SUZ MADURA 1200 GLF! I have had the bike now six years, drove about 15,000 miles already with the beauty and she never let me down!!! Just some new tires every 4000 miles and some oil, and once a year(!) a regular ´tecnical stop´. It´s not a salon-machine beacuse I drive all year.

| I bought the 700 (in Blue) last year and fell in love with it. Let my son ride it, then found a purple 700 and bought it for him. In January, in a blizzard, I heard a voice telling me to go to Bow Cycle in Calgary and there, lo and behold, I found a black 1200. Bought it on the spot, never even rode it until the snow cleared a month ago. Wow! I love it. Had over a dozen bikes in my time and these are absolutely the best bikes I've ever owned. Just sold the purple 700 to my assistant, Bill. We all live just 45 minutes ride time from the awesome Rocky Mountains, south west of Calgary, Alberta, Canada. You cannot imagine the rides we take. We ride through rolling foothills on straight and twisty roads, park off road and hike the many hiking trails. Awesome bikes deserve awesome scenery.

| Purchased new in 1986 as a "Non-Current" for $3600, US. It now has over 55,000 miles on it and all I've done to it is change fluids, filters, spark plugs, clutch pack (once) and the battery (twice), and ride it hard (every chance I get), through rain, snow and desert summers. It won't quit, and STILL pulls like a tractor!

| I owned my Madura from 1991 to 1996. Bought it with "6", yes SIX, original miles on it! It was in pristine condition. It was a great Ride. The Madura had features that no bikes in its class today have! Full instrumentation, self-canceling signals, low maintanence items a ton of power! My sport bike buddies were shocked when I would blow by them in the straights!

| I thought I was the only one around that owned a Madura! I'm really glad that I found your site. I bought my '85 Madura 1200 GLF in 1997 with 13k miles on it, and have only put on about 7k to date. I had the advantage of working in a machine shop a couple of years ago, and as you see in the picture, was able to make my own forward controls. Talk about a nice riding bike!! Many of your members mentioned their bikes rough running @ 3000 to 4500 rpm. I don't have that problem at all. My bike runs smooth at all speeds and r's. Its good to see that there are alot of people out there who appreciate their Madura like I do. I don't have any technical issues now, but with this site available, I feel a little more comfortable knowing there is information out there.

| I'm a new owner of an '85 Madura 1200. I previously owned a Virago and was looking for an 1100 when I came accross the Madura. It's got 26000 kms and looks in pretty good shape as far as I can tell. I've put 500 kms on it already and am very happy with my purchase. Thanks for the Madura web site, I was pleasantly surprised to find info on a bike I had never heard of before. I have no owners manual or any tech info and would appreciate anything I could get my hands on. I'm ready to do an oil change but don't even know how many litres of oil I will need. I also noticed the front brake doesn't activate the brake light and would like to fix this. I also find the rear suspension very stiff but have not figured out how to adjust it. Any info will be greatly appreciated. I will try and get some photos to post on your site. I think some close ups would be a good addition to some of the pictures you already have. Keep up the good work on the site and hope to hear from you.

| I picked up my GV1200 in May '99 for $1700. It was in fair shape. A lot of elbow grease later and a paint job on the tank and it was the best money I have ever spent. I rode my last bike, an 850 GLT for 14 years - I know I will have this bike longer. I love it!
