The time it takes to get your site up depends on how much has to be done.
Here are the steps to be taken if starting from scratch:
- Select an internet service provider (ISP)
- Choose an address (domain name) for your internet site
- Register your domain name
- Send us your current brochure and stationery materials with logos.
- Determine the function of your website
- Come up with a design scheme
- Layout the HTML for the main pages
- Create 1st draft graphics
- Get approval on the draft layout
- Complete the layout of all pages with copy in place
- Create final graphics, tuned and optimized
- Test functionality; make any needed modifications
- Consult about keywords for search engine registration
- Post your webpages to your internet domain
- Register site with commercial search engines
This entire process could take as little as two weeks if your site isn't very extensive. It usually takes about two weeks to get your domain name registered and set up with your internet service provider, during which time much of your site could be completed.
If your site is larger than 3-5 pages and has many custom graphics, you should expect that it will take more along the lines of 4-8 weeks to complete and have posted on the internet.
The search engine registrations can be done in one day, but in some cases take upwards of six weeks before you get any results. This is due to administrators reviewing your site's submission to make sure it gets listed in the correct category, and that your site's content is appropriate for that category.
Ideally, a well coordinated effort would have your concept of a webpage this month become a reality by next month.
