NIBA STUDENTS RECEIVE CERTIFICATION
Results from the most recent certification test by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) have been flowing into the NIBA office. HRCI, the human resource credentialing body founded by SHRM, promotes the establishment of standards for the profession and recognizes human resource professionals who have, through demonstrated professional experience and the
passing of a written comprehensive exam, met the Institute's requirements for mastering the codified HR body of knowledge.
Purpose of Certification:
An essential tool for maintaining high professional standards, certification shows that you have demonstrated mastery of the HR body of knowledge and have accepted the personal challenge to stay abreast of new developments in he human resource field. Certification is important because it provides:
- National recognition of your professional achievement;
- An aid for your career advancement; and
- A visual reminder of your professional status--through use of your earned designation on business correspondence and display of your certificate of certification.
Many of the NIBA members who took the exam, first took the Human Resource Institute (HRI) offered by NIBA. The HRI uses the SHRM Learning System to cover the whole range of HR knowledge, such as health and safety, compensation, management practices and union tactics.
The following NIBA members received this certification:
Heidi Dinter, SPHR, VisionTek, Inc.
Bill Herrmann, SPHR, Castwell Products
Rosemary Kuna, SPHR, FP International, Inc.
Brenda Larson, PHR, NIBA
Greg Lawson, PHR, Austeel Lemont Company
Sylvanna Presta, PHR, Brunswick Recreation
Laura Rossi, PHR, Overland Bolling Company
The certification exam takes place the first week of both May and December. NIBA offers our Human Resource Institute twice a year in preparation for this exam. If you would like more information please call NIBA at 847-963-9860, or fill out our online form.

Our first public offering at this satellite location will be our Supervisory Development Institute (SDI). The SDI program offers a collaborative, adult learning environment, with heavy emphasis on peer learning and participation in hands-on exercises. Participants' real, on-the-job, situations are used throughout the program as a basis for instruction.
