Born Leaders
Yes, they do exist. If you're lucky you may even have met one or two.
Most of us, however, have to learn leadership -- and most of us learn it the hard way.
There is an alternative.
|
Why "Management Leadership?"
Because, in fact, management is leadership. Successful managers have the ability to motivate, to bring out the best in people -- to lead, whether they are managing staff, clients or customers. Successful managers communicate -- and they communicate not just what to do, but the desire to get the job done. The best managers understand themselves, and understand the motivations of the people they work with. The fact is that management teams that get along, that can work together, are the ones that get the job done.
And all the natural talent in the world is sometimes not enough. "Nothing," Calvin Coolidge said, "is more common than unsuccessful people with talent." NIBA's Institute for Management Leadership is a focused effort to channel potential, to put talent to work effectively -- a practical approach that develops successful managers.
At NIBA, the focus is on getting the job done, on teaching the how-to in a practical, results-driven curriculum. The Institute works to develop successful managers -- people who actually achieve goals, not just people who know the words.

Why choose NIBA's program?
|
- Because NIBA is...
 |
Local: We understand northern Illinois businesses; we -- and our facilitators -- are here, easily available for follow-up. And we represent the interests and needs of over 500
local companies. |
 |
Flexible: The NIBA Institute includes public programs, on-site customized programs for any size group, and individual assessment opportunities. Consultants, including coaching and mentoring professionals, are available to address specific needs and organizational development. |
 |
On-going: The program is designed specifically for continuity -- structured to include direct, job-related feedback and on-site refreshers. |
 |
Cost-effective: Leadership programs can cost upwards of $10,000 per participant.
NIBA is a not-for-profit association and costs are dramatically reduced. |
 |
Practical: The Institute is pragmatic -- our goal is to move professionals to success. The structure is interactive--based on a business rather than an academic model
--and the action plan is the core of the program. |
 |
Experienced: NIBA has been in business since 1949, and our Supervisory Development Institute is among the most successful in the nation, with over 6,000 graduates. The Institute for Management Leadership is grounded in the same principles. |

ASSESSMENT CENTER
|
|
Assessment linked directly to your workplace -- Our assessment center is an integrated series of assessment instruments designed to provide a baseline for management development programs and individual action plans.
The Tools
Assessment tools include, amont others:
Process Communication Model - a unique communication assessment with a proven capacity to predict compatibility among management team members. Its outcome is directly related
to managers' insights into their own motivations and behaviors, and to understanding motivation, interaction, goal orientation and team involvement.
360 degree feedback - participants rank skills by importance and an analysis of the disagreements -- the "gaps" -- is included.
These, and a wide variety of other assessment tools and evaluations, are offered separately for individuals or groups, with a custom action plan option.

On-site, Customized Management Programs
Two out of three NIBA members are choosing to have training programs brought to them -- taught on-site at their facility, with a curriculum that's custom-made to meet their company needs.
NIBA trainers meet with senior management to develop a program that uses your materials and focuses on your issues. We'll work closely with you to create a management or executive level program that's built just for your business, including programs that work in concert with consulting or assessment projects.
